Beginning with the body and its movement. Searching for strategies that enable the punctuation and accentuation of the body in all its varied motion. A fetishistic approach to materiality allows for the acquisition of terminally unconventional fabrication. This approach aims to facilitate the transgression of possibility for communication of the body.
BOdy, movement, and materiality.
The materiality serves on many levels. It is used to emphasise the body in motion, but also it becomes a ‘prop’ when contextualising it within the show/viewer construct. To view it in this light, it becomes a story where body, movement and fabrication are protagonists communicating via visual strategy.
The work draws from a contemporary approach to movement, textile/fashion design, stage/set design, film and photography.
